Study Trip to Iran to study art and architecture, March 2019

In March 2019, Fay travelled to Iran to study Persian and Islamic art and architecture to further her interest in the arts and culture of the Middle East after her earlier study trip to Fez. She travelled around the country starting in Tehran before driving to Qom, Kashan, Abiyaneh, Isfahan, Yazd, Kerman, Mahan, Bam, Shahdad and Shiraz. The cultural sites had a significant impact on Fayโ€™s work. On her return, she started making drawings and watercolours in response to the โ€˜domes of paradiseโ€™ of mosques, to the ancient brickwork found at archaeological sites of ancient cities and to the exquisite coloured tilework found throughout the country. A selection of these drawings and watercolours have been shown in a solo show at Handel Street Projects London and in various group shows in London and UK. ย ย
