Chiswick House

When clearing the family home after her father’s death, Fay discovered a small photograph of her father holding a baby in front of the sphinx at Chiswick House, close to where her parents were living in 1957. Years ago, an aunt had given Fay a companion photo of her mother holding the baby at Chiswick House in the same location, in a similar pose. The baby is Fay, a few months old. Fay wanted to make this double portrait, commemorating the moment when the two photos are reunited by her as an adult and then drawn, also aware that she the artist is the subject of the original.
